Managing users in Jaspersoft

Jaspersoft administrators manage user accounts, permissions, and credentials in their organisation’s Ideagen Aviation Safety (Cora) reporting system.
No elevated permissions are required.
This article outlines:
- How to reset a user’s password
- How to disable an existing user

1. Password reset
Jaspersoft does not support self-service password resets. Users must contact an administrator, who can reset the password on their behalf.
1.1. Important notes:
- There is no “Forgot Password” option available to end users.
- No automatic email notification is sent when a password is reset.
- The administrator must manually share the new credentials with the user.
1.2. Steps to reset a password:
- Log in as an administrator.
- Navigate to Manage, then Users.
- Locate and select the user account.
- Click Edit, then enter the new password.
- Save changes.
- Manually communicate the new password to the user via secure means.
2. Disable an existing user
Disabling a user prevents them from logging in but retains their account for audit or future reactivation.
2.1. Steps to disable a user:
- Log in as an administrator.
- Go to Manage, then Users.
- Locate the user account.
- Click Edit.
- Uncheck the Enabled box.
- Save changes.
3. Add a new user
Administrators can create new users and assign roles based on access requirements.
3.1. Steps to add a new user:
- Navigate to Manage, Users, then Add User.
- Fill in the required fields:
- Username
- Password
- Full Name
- Email (optional)
- Assign appropriate roles (e.g.,
ROLE_USER,ROLE_ADMIN). - Save the user.
- Manually share login credentials with the user.
3.2. Important notes:
- No welcome email or notification is sent automatically.
- Ensure the user receives their credentials securely.
