How to Manage Dynamic Roles
Who is this article for?Users who are accessing Coruson on a browser.
System Wide Administrator permissions required.
As a System Wide Administrator, there may be a requirement to configure permissions associated with specific roles users may take on within Coruson. For example, should a user be assigned as a Report Owner, that user will be granted additional permissions for the report which they have been assigned this role to but no others.
This can be done dynamically so as to not impact the security that has been configured against users within other areas of the system.

1. Accessing Dynamic Roles
Once logged into Coruson as a System Wide Administrator, navigate to the menu icon found to the left of the Coruson logo. This will open up a panel from the left. From within this menu navigate to Administration > People & Security > Dynamic Roles.
From within this menu, a choice for the type of Dynamic Role needing to be configured can be found from the drop-down menu in the filters area.
Alternatively, the search box to the right of the screen can be used to search for a specific Dynamic Role if the name of a specific one is already known.
2. Adding or Removing Permission Sets
Within the Dynamic Role, options are limited. The blue + button to the top right of the screen can be used to add an existing Permission Set to be used as the basis of the Dynamic Role. Additionally, the red x icon which appears next to all existing Permission Sets will remove the Permission Set from this Dynamic Role.
By default, the system will come with pre-made Permission Sets which match the title of the Dynamic Role that they are assigned to. It is not mandatory to keep these Permission Sets and they can be removed or altered as required.
Tip: Multiple Permission Sets can be added to an individual Dynamic Role. There is no limit as to home many Permission Sets can be added.
3. Adjusting Permissions Within Permission Sets
After adding a Permission Set to a Dynamic Role, click into that Permission Set's title and a new page will load. This is the configuration page where the individual permissions can be set. To set a permission, simply click the toggle to set the permission to NO or YES.
Additional tabs on this page will display the User Groups in which this Permission Set is used and the Dynamic Roles that the Permission Set is used in.
