How to Add and Remove Stages on a Workflow
Who is this article for?Users who are responsible for managing workflows.
The Add Report Task Stage or Add Report Accept/Reject Stage permissions are required.
Workflows are central to how Ideagen Coruson works, with different workflows available in each module. The type of actions you can perform on a Reporting workflow are very similar to the actions you can perform on an Audit workflow and a Document workflow but each module has a few options that are specific to them.
This article provides steps covering how to add and remove stages from a workflow. This can be done in a workflow management section (i.e. as an administrator building a workflow) or as a user processing a workflow. The article is split into 3 sections to make workflows easier to understand. You can either walk through the steps in sequence or you can jump to the section relevant to what you are doing in Coruson:

Add a Stage
Stages are part of a workflow and workflows are usually automatically added (and even started) when a record is created. New stages can be added if you have an action that need more actions or approvals to be used.
Examples: You may have a document that needs to be approved by additional departments and so extra approval stages can be added. Likewise, while investigating a report you may need to add more actions or extra follow-up actions and so additional stages would be perfect for capturing additional actions that are out of the norm.
How to do it:
- Click the Add stage button.
- Select the type of stage.
- Enter the following information:
- Title: The name displayed on the stage.
- Acceptable Response Time: How long the owner has to complete the stage once it has been started.
-
Guidance: Further information for the stage owner.
- Click Add task stage.
Remove a Stage
You can also remove unwanted stages from the workflow. This is useful if you have added a stage which was intended to replace an existing stage or you decide a stage is not relevant and should be removed.
How to do it:
- Click on the Action button on the stage.
- Click Remove.
- When prompted, click Remove to confirm.
Important: Removing a stage will also remove all actions and their responses. This cannot be undone so please take care when removing stages.
